My objection to CBS’s idea of making Watson a woman is that they’ve kicked the original story in the crotch, quite literally.
If a woman from an original novel was changed to a man in a TV adaptation, the audience would flip their shit. This, to me, is no different.
Seriously, it’s not the fact it’s a woman.
No, I love myself some Lucy, and I love woman don’t get me wrong.
It’s the fact they took a cannon character, a extremely well known, mediazed cannon character, and changed there sex, and basically are free range on whatever they do.
It’s like, if they made Harry Potter a girl in the movies because they wanted romance between him and Ron instead of a close friendship.
Or if Hermonie was a boy to remove a certain aspect of romance, or add a same sex couple romance.
You just don’t do it.
